Although the lockdown has kept everyone away from the site, the site has seen the completion of many projects.
Hornbeam Lodge
Over the summer Uncle Toms Cabin had a major refurbishment. This included fully insulating the building. Installing a new heating system, brand new kitchen, brand new disabled toilet and shower room, new flooring, new lighting, brand new double glazing throughout and the entire building has been newly decorated.
The teams personal favourite is the new covered veranda which will allow for outdoor dining when the chairs and tables arrive.
Whilst the cabin was being refurbished the Management Committee agreed to rename the building Hornbeam Lodge.
Hornbeam Lodge is now a modern building allowing comfortable stays for our young people, community and users whilst enjoying the great outdoors. Moving with the times. Every room has usb plug sockets and modern central heating.
The building is also equipped with 5G WiFi and a brand new state of the art electronic white board meaning the building can double up as a training facility

Outside Shelters
We have been building bespoke outdoor shelters that can be used as outdoor classrooms, group working areas or just places to while away the time under.
This is the first of three shelters that will be dotted around the woodland, all free to use no booking needed.
Camping Sites
We have been clearing and maintaining the camping areas so there are more to choose from when you book your site, just check out the new entry on the booking form.
All sites can have open fires, either on hearths or on alter fires.
Campers and Site Users
People who are disabled have now an accessible toilet in the external toilet block. A room in this block has been completely refurbished to allow the inclusion into the site and facilities of wheelchair users and other disabled persons, by the provision of a prompt accessible toilet and washing facilities.
Easier Booking System
The online booking system has been enhanced so you can check availability of the sites and accommodation. Fourteen days before your visit you will receive a welcome pack, and after your visit a chance to share your feedback on your visit.
We can also take card payments now, particularly useful if you are a small group.
