Welcome to Danemead Scout Campsite
Danemead is an ideal Scouting backwoodsmans site, located in Hertfordshire, within easy reach of London and the Home Counties. Although it is located in Hertfordshire, it is jointly owned by the four London Districts of Barnet, Chingford, Enfield and North London and managed by a separate charity comprising representatives from all four Districts. It is set in 34 acres of mature unspoilt woodland, and part of the adjoining Broxbourne woods. The site has been granted the status of a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). This recognises that Danemead is an old managed woodland with diverse fungi, mosses, grasses, flowers, and (if you’re quiet) you may see the Munjac deer and many other other interesting flora and fauna, wildlife and birds.
As an ideal backwoods Scout Campsite, Danemead warmly welcomes all Scouts, Guides and any other officially recognised youth organisations.
There are numerous camping sites of varying sizes amidst the trees or on the hillside amongst the bracken.Indoor accommodation is also available in Uncle Tom’s Cabin; an ideal venue for dining or indoor activities.
