Uncle Tom’s Cabin is the indoor accommodation at Danemead and has sleeping accommodation for up to 26 people in bunk rooms (1 x 6 beds and 5 x 4 beds). People frequently ask if they can hire Uncle Tom’s Cabin but camp outside and the answer is ‘Yes’! The hire charge for Uncle Tom’s Cabin covers all camping fees for 26 people and we don’t mind if they sleep inside or out (it’s more exciting outside after all!). Of course, if your group consists of more than 26 people, we do expect you to pay camping fees for the additional people.
The accommodation is undergoing continued refurbishment. Currently the bunk rooms and kitchen have been refurbished with the remaining activity hall and leaders area to be completed next. The troop room can be used as a dining room and/or for indoor activities. The refurbished kitchen has a commercial size gas cooker and electric refrigerators. There is central heating throughout the building. The hire charge for Uncle Tom’s Cabin covers all electricity/gas used during your stay and there is free Wifi.
