Survival Weekend ’19

4th - 6th October

Ever wanted to experience a survival camp in an outstanding woodland setting? Nearly one hundred young people did just that !

Scouts from across the county came together to take part in the first dedicated Survival Weekend for young members that the site has hosted in recent years. Survival weekends are nothing new at Danemead, with over thirty-five acres of un-spoilt woodland groups have been coming to the site with survival skills at the heart of their programme.

This was however the first weekend, for young people, run in partnership with Danemead and Bushscout UK, the national Scout Active Support Unit and follows on from the highly successful adult survival weekend held in May this year.

Bushscout UK provides support to Counties and Leaders countrywide to deliver structured and safe practical skills which includes Countryside awareness, Woodcraft, Bushcraft, Crafts, Bladed tool use, Campfire Cooking, Game Prep, Campcraft and Tomahawk Throwing Training.

During the weekend the Scouts had the opportunity to learn a whole host of new skills, make new friends and complete most of the Scout Survival Skills Activity badge.
