1st Mud Run a huge Success

The first ever Mud Run at Danemead campsite proved to be a very popular event drawing praise from young people, leaders and parents.

It was a chance discussion a year ago about having a cross country run that morphed into a Mud Run open to all sections and members of Girlguiding UK. On a superb, sunny morning over 200 young people assembled at Danemead Campsite for the first Mud Run.

Full support from the growing team of campsite crew who had their chance to show off their skills with many weekends of preparation paying off in what was generally acknowledged to be a superbly organised event.

Mud was in plentiful supply with the Beaver Scouts and Cub Scouts completing one lap and the Scouts, Explorers and Guides completing three laps and a number of obstacles around the course, some more muddy than others !

The campsite has recently undergone a rejuvenation with new management team now place and this is the first of many organised events to take place at the site, keep an eye out in the website for more details. The next event will be a Survival Weekend run jointly with our partners Bushscouts UK who were on hand this weekend laying on Axe Throwing, branding and backwoods skills whilst the scores were being calculated.

The winning team overall was 1st/3rd Barnet Scouts who received the trophy, but as Matt, Site Manager explained at the presentation everyone who took part was a winner.

Feedback has been extremely positive, from leaders, parents and young people,

"Thanks to Matt and the Danemead Scout Campsite crew for having us for the weekend and putting on a fantastic mud run from all the scouts", 37th Chingford.

"Thank you so much for putting on an amazing event. My kids absolutely loved it and have already asked to come back next year and do it again."

Mud Run will be back in 2020, keep an eye out on the website for information !
