Why choose Danemead Scout Campsite ?
Danemead Scout Campsite is located at Ordnance Survey grid location TL 075 347 of OS Explorer map 174 (scale 1:25,000).
The woodlands, fields and river Lea Navigation surrounding Danemead Scout Campsite are suitable for a Bronze level practice expedition and qualifying expedition. This is a two day expedition with one night’s camping and is to consist of a team of four to seven participants aged between 14-24.
If utilising public transportation the expedition could be started from local train stations, such as Cheshunt station; walking North a short distance along the Lea Valley waterway before heading West through the fields leading into the forest. The second and final day can head back to Hertford North station, walking North through Monk’s Green and Morgan’s Walk.
To undertake a qualifying expedition at any level it must be assessed by an Expedition Assessor. We have an Expedition Assessor on the Danemead Scout Campsite team who, with suitable notification (typically six weeks in advance), can be provided for a £40 fee per team. All monies earned by the team are used to improve the site. The expedition team will be required to submit their group name, participant names, route cards and pictures of the route two weeks in advance to the Assessor. The Assessor is able to assess up to six teams of seven participants each – if different routes are planned this is to be notified as early as possible and a reduced fee of £15 is applicable for each additional expedition team.
