Chris and Matt, our Chairman and Site Warden would like to make this appeal on behalf of the campsite :
Dear Adults,
You may or not be aware that Danemead Scout Campsite (your campsite) is currently undergoing change. Following the successful refurbishment of the toilet and shower facilities three years ago and UTC's kitchen facilities last year we have now started on a very long overdue refurbishment of the rest of Uncle Toms Cabin. Over the last few weeks work has started to completely refurbish three of the bedrooms. Walls and ceilings have been stripped down completely to the internal battening and insulation and plasterboard added. New wiring and lights, carpet and installation of radiators ready for the install of a full central heating system - no more gas heaters in the main hall.
This work has now exhausted our funds and we are applying to the National Lottery Awards for All programme to secure new funding and allow work to continue on the other three bedrooms, the addition of an indoor toilet room and the creation of a leaders lounge. We are also looking to replace all the bunk beds throughout.
How can I help?
As part of our funding application we are making a short, two and a half minute professionally shot and edited film which will be submitted with our application and will be hosted through the Danemead website, via You Tube.
We need Beaver Scouts and Cub Scouts on Saturday 25th August who will feature in the film. I understand that this is short notice in the middle of the school summer holidays but even if you can just bring along two young people and another leader that would be a really big help. maybe you have children of your own you could bring along. You will be required from 10am - 2pm so bring a picnic and enjoy the site for free (we will even have a bouncy castle on site as a thank you). You will also be able to see the progress of the current refurbishment and maybe book your next Beaver Scout or Cub Scout weekend away.
We also require some members of other youth organisations and maybe your son or daughter is also in one of the cadet forces, or even a local youth group or amateur dramatic society.
If you are able to attend, even if just with one young person it will be really appreciated as our application needs to be submitted by the start of October.
Please note; young people will require to be in uniform and you will need a note from the young persons parents/guardians stating that they give their permission for their son/daughter to be filmed and for the footage to be shown on social media platforms.
Thanking you in advance,
Chris and Matthew
