Uncle Tom’s Cabin is the indoor accommodation at Danemead and has sleeping accommodation for up to 26 people in bunk rooms (1 x 6 beds and 5 x 4 beds). People frequently ask if they can hire Uncle Tom’s Cabin but camp outside and the answer is ‘Yes’! The hire charge for Uncle Tom’s Cabin covers all camping fees for 26 people and we don’t mind if they sleep inside or out (it’s more exciting outside after all!). Of course, if your group consists of more than 26 people, we do expect you to pay camping fees for the additional people.
All rooms have background heating for winter use. The troop room can be used as a dining room and/or for indoor activities. There is a newly refurbished kitchen with a commercial size gas cooker and electric refrigerators. Electric lighting is installed throughout. The hire charge for Uncle Tom’s Cabin covers all electricity and gas used during your stay.
Three of the rooms have recently been refurbished.
